Welcome to the month of February, 2013! Though we can’t actually believe how quickly time is flying by, we must stop and listen to the amazing support going on this month…


As the Women’s Heart Disease Awareness Month, it’s important to learn, share, and provide your beautiful body with all the good nutrients you deserve! To help understand how important this truly is, 1 out of 3 adult women currently have some form of cardiovascular disease, causing death and numbers to increase year after year! With controllable habits that we as individuals can change and commit to, let us choose our health and hold ourselves high and valuable. It’s up to us to be responsible on our choices and create a happier, healthier way of living!


For me, I’m a total salt fanatic! I love my chips and salsa and can seriously eat them morning, noon, and night! It’s such a bad habit so finding Kale Chips in various flavors {all natural by the way!} was a no brainer and I love them!

To help change out meals for both heart-friendly and nutritional ingredients, one of our favorite sites we use as a ‘go-to’ is EAT CLEANER by Chef Mareya {pulls from various sources}. From Spinach Pancakes, Ginger Lime Shrimp Quinoa, to Crispy Sage Pizza and more, she has a ridiculous list of recipes! You’ll have fun trying new things while feeling better inside and out.

My own personal favorite is Sauteed Zucchini & Crumbled Salmon. Here’s what you do..

1. pre-heat oven to 325 degrees. when ready, place salmon filets in for 25 minutes {drizzle lemon & other choices of seasonings}
2. chop 6-8 zucchini’s and 3-4 garlic cloves. lightly drizzle olive oil & sauteed until zucchini softens. once ready, place to the side.
3. once salmon is ready, shred with fork. place to the side.
4. cut fresh cherry tomatoes. place to the side.
5. layer cooked zucchini, flakes salmon, tomatoes, & top with choice of balsamic dressing.
*10 minute prep time. 30-35 minutes and your dinner is complete from start to finish!


Overall, the equation is pretty simple… Eat more veggies & fruits + less processed foods & meats = a healthier body, heart, & soul!

Latest statistics in women’s health around Cardiovascular Heart Disease {CHD}…

  • 42.9 million women are currently living with some form of cardiovascular disease.
  •  More than 2.6 million women have a history of heart attack. 
  • 33.2% of women do not engage in leisure-time physical activity. 
  • 60.2% of Caucasian women, 79.9% of African-American women, and 78.2% of Hispanic-American women are overweight or obese. 
  • Among Mexican-American women, 30.7% have cardiovascular disease. 
  • Among African-American women, 48.9% have cardiovascular disease. 
  • Two-thirds of women who suffer a heart attack never fully recover.
  • One in three adult females has some form of cardiovascular disease.
