International Women’s Day

07 Mar 2014 Posted by Lucy in Life

A Celebration Of All

March 8th is International Women’s Day! A day where we not only celebrate the monumental achievements of women regarding economic, political, and social issues; but also recognize even the smallest acts of kindness that have made a world of difference in our lives.

On this International Women’s Day (and every day!), we want to celebrate all of the women who have inspired us. Whether it’s a friend, mother, co-worker, or whoever – think about someone who has particularly inspired you. This might be someone who has believed in you or led you to believe in yourself. It might even be someone you have seen achieve and succeed. Let that person know just how much they mean to you this International Women’s Day by showing your appreciation through a simple act of kindness.

There is no need to stress or worry about doing something extravagant and perfect because even the smallest acts of kindness will do. Taking the woman who inspires you out to lunch at her favorite spot, buying her a latte, or simply having a movie night with some popcorn and laughs will do just fine. Appeal to her interests and let her know that she means a lot to you. You can celebrate with one person or even a group of your favorite gals – it’s up to you! Showing your appreciation could truly brighten someone’s day;)

TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY this year to inspire, thank, and celebrate the remarkable women in your life. It doesn’t just have to be on International Women’s Day, it can be on any day and every day. Perhaps you can even make a routine to see this person once or twice a week. It’s always good to be surrounded by people who make you feel happy. However you choose to celebrate, we hope it brings plenty of joy.

We want to take this opportunity to say an extra special thank you to all of the wonderful women who have inspired us, encouraged us, shaped us, and motivated us throughout our lives. They have paved our way towards a better future and have shown us to never settle for anything other than the best.

Women Sponsoring Women

14 Feb 2014 Posted by Lucy in Inspirations, RED Women

How helping others brings us happiness

As women, we tend to often lend a helping hand to others. (What can we say, it’s in our nature!) With Valentine’s Day here, we want to put an emphasis on all of the love and support that has both healed and bonded so many women because of such acts of kindness. Alone, women are independent and strong, but together, they have the ability to empower and remind each another of their potential for greatness.

WHEN WE CHOOSE TO HELP ONE ANOTHER, we find in ourselves a gratification that is greater than anything that can come from other worldly fixations. Being a rock for others not only allows us to learn more about ourselves but it also lets us take part in a chain reaction for the greater good. There is always an opportunity for kindness and there are so many ways that women can help carry one other in times of need.

One way that women can support each other is through sponsorship. Finding ways to help local businesses that carry similar traits to your own is a great way to start a support system. Doing so can allow you to make positive connections and help spread the word about what you have to offer, all while helping and inspiring others to do what they LOVE.

One thing that we very strongly believe, however, is that sponsoring other women does not mean that you have to take out your checkbook. To sponsor can also mean to support. There are countless ways you can help others, whether it be by volunteering in your community, joining organizations, or even being there for a friend who is already dear to you. Not only will you be there for those who need it the most, but you will also be making a world of difference.

This Valentine’s Day remember that love can be defined as much more than romance. Love is friendship, togetherness, and support. LOVE IS WHERE COMPASSION SHOWS and where women link together to accomplish something far greater than what we already think is the greater good.

We would like to say an extra special *thank you* to RED Lip Talk’s very own sponsors for our upcoming 2014 Boudoir event this Sunday…Brittany @ BrittRene Photo, Noel @ Hey Saylor Cosmetics, Emily @ Stella & Dot, and others! Because of our wonderful supporters {YOU}, we have been able to accomplish so much! Thank you ladies!

Happy Valentine’s Day to you all!

How To Wear Your Beauty

04 Feb 2014 Posted by Lachelle in Inspirations, RED Women

From the inside out

In honor of our upcoming 2014 RED Boudoir event Sunday February 16th, we’re celebrating what it means to ROCK our RED with this week’s tribute….

“A RED Woman wears her beauty from the inside out” – RLT

 {2013′s RED Boudoir. Photo by BrittRene Photo at The Villa San Juan Capistrano. Makeup by Brittany Paige Artistry}

This week’s 3 tips on living RED ~

ONE } Beauty starts with the heart. There is absolutely NOTHING more beautiful than a woman who exuberates self-confidence. Nothing.

TWO } Love the skin you live in. Loving yourself is one pretty useful key to happiness and only you have control over this ladies so remember the power of one’s perspective and commit to making the change or stickin’ to it;)

THREE } Celebrate YOU and your timelessness!  Everything about you is beautifully unique. The things you love to do, the jokes that make you laugh…sculpting each piece together into the person the world around you knows and adores. It’s important to celebrate and honor each and every one of those qualities. They’re what make you, YOU.

Living life for your heart and your heart’s happiness opens doors and pathways for joy, freedom, and love so listen to your heart, believe in yourself, and celebrate the beauty that only you possess.

Love & hugs always!

RED Takeaway ~ This week, go out to do something you enjoy each and every day! Watch a movie, visit a friend, send a loved one a card, no matter how big or small the act, the investment in yourself and life is worth every minute!

RED News | Jada Pinkett-Smith Speaks RED!

06 Dec 2012 Posted by Lachelle in Inspirations

With media critics attacking daughter, Willow, for a her personal decision to rock a buzz cut, mother, woman, and passionate activist, Jada Pinkett-Smith quickly stepped up to voice the failures of societies and cultures around the world and how the effects spread across women AND MEN!

The War on Men Through the Degradation of Woman, posted 12/1/12

“How is man to recognize his full self, his full power through the eye’s of an incomplete woman? The woman who has been stripped of Goddess recognition and diminished to a big ass and full breast for physical comfort only. The woman who has been silenced so she may forget her spiritual essence because her words stir too much thought outside of the pleasure space. The woman who has been diminished to covering all that rots inside of her with weaves and red bottom shoes.

I am sure the men, who restructured our societies from cultures that honored woman, had no idea of the outcome. They had no idea that eventually, even men would render themselves empty and longing for meaning, depth and connection.

There is a deep sadness when I witness a man that can’t recognize the emptiness he feels when he objectifies himself as a bank and truly believes he can buy love with things and status. It is painful to witness the betrayal when a woman takes him up on that offer.

He doesn’t recognize that the [creation] (LOVE THIS!!!!) of a half woman has contributed to his repressed anger and frustration of feeling he is not enough. He then may love no woman or keep many half women as his prize.

He doesn’t recognize that it’s his submersion in the imbalanced warrior culture, where violence is the means of getting respect and power, as the reason he can break the face of the woman who bore him 4 four children.

When woman is lost, so is man. The truth is, woman is the window to a man’s heart and a man’s heart is the gateway to his soul.

Power and control will NEVER out weigh love.

May we all find our way”. ~ Jada Pinkett-Smith, Sinuous Magazine

Reading the words of a very wise and passionate woman, we say proudly, AMEN Lady and THANK YOU for representing the absolute definition of RED in every way.  Because of Jada’s support to her daughter and to the world, may we continue together to be inspired and show our mutual stance for women of course, but also for the men in our hearts, family, and lives!

How We Battle For Beauty

05 Dec 2012 Posted by Lachelle in Inspirations

It’s no sudden shock to hear about the struggles of self image in life. Through our process of naturally building an ‘ideal self’, we place ourselves in a competition against our very own hopes, wishes, and desires of who we think and feel we should be.

Unfortunately, how we think and feel is heavily directed by the cultural noise outside. Through all the colors and descriptions both seen and heard, there isn’t a cell phone, TV episode, radio station, movie, or magazine that isn’t engraving the constant image of perfection.

Finding themselves accepting the ‘self worth’ definition delivered through society’s endless voice, many women compare themselves to the fictitious elements of Photoshop, facial injections, body enhancements, spray tans (to name a few), and are fighting to find confidence between it all.

With technology at every corner every second of the day, it’s no wonder 8 out 10 women state being ‘unhappy with their own reflection’. It’s an unforgiving battle of beauty out there and wrongfully, the playing ground just simply isn’t real!

Sadly, other major statistics show…

90% of ALL women want to change at least one aspect of their physical appearance!

Every 15 seconds a woman is abused!

¾’s of young females with low self-esteem grow up engaging in negative activities, suffering from bulimia, overeating, alcoholism, early sexual behavior, and suicide!

REAL women have curves…that’s what naturally attracts our other half’s. REAL women age and show lines of youth…we can’t help but laugh, smile, and sing when no one’s looking. REAL women, all in all, aren’t perfect…but, REAL women are all beautiful and it’s because of our imperfections that make us uniquely special.

Being the beautifully created woman that you are, RLT wants to highlight and celebrate YOU!!

RED NEWS | Victoria’s Secret Model Supports Positive Body Image

23 Feb 2012 Posted by Lachelle in Inspirations

In a world with so many factors that can affect the self image of another, there’s a beautiful notion in the selfless act recently made by Model Kylie Bisutti, 21, who has chosen to quit as a model Victoria’s Secret. By her departure, Kylie hopes to gain support from the well known lingerie powerhouse by aiding in her cause to help inspire women everywhere to hold a more positive body image.

While Kylie cites religious attributes as well as her desire to honor her commitment to her husband, her main reason fell upon a moment she encountered with her eight-year-old niece which spurred her decision-making…

“I was doing my makeup in the mirror one day and she was watching me. She looked at me and was like, ‘You know, I think I want to stop eating so I can look like you…It just broke my heart because she looks up to me and I didn’t want to be that type of person that she thought she had to do that to [feel] beautiful,” Kylie explains.  “Thousands of girls that think that being beautiful is an outer issue and really it’s a heart issue.”

Beginning her modeling career at the age of 14, Kylie began her career search with the runway where the statuesque model first encountered a very extreme and specific outlook on beauty found within the modeling industry…

“I remember doing a fashion show and hearing designers call me the big model. I was like, ‘The big model?’ I considered giving up modeling, but then I heard about the Victoria’s Secret contest.”

In 2009, shortly after her marriage to husband Mike Bisutti, Kylie entered the contest and was selected out of 100,000 women to become Victoria’s Secret’s newest Angel, a highly popular title in today’s culture, and citing the lingerie company as her main career goal. Despite the immense exposure and financial benefits offered as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, shortly after winning the contest, Kylie began to see and feel the clash between her job and her religious beliefs…

“I didn’t really want to be that kind of role model for younger girls because I had a lot of younger Christian girls that were looking up to me and then thinking that it was okay for them to walk around and show their bodies in lingerie to guys…My goal is just to be a better role model for the youth. I just want them to see me as somebody that they can look up to.”

Kylie Bisutti’s desire to be a role model for positive body image will hopefully begin to correct the disproportionate view on female beauty that so many women, especially young teens and adults, suffer from. For her courage and commitment to her beliefs on inner beauty, we congratulate her on her illustration of RED confidence!

What’s Your Shade of RED?

06 Oct 2011 Posted by Lachelle in Beauty, Inspirations, Life

With over 50 shades of red, it’s definitely easy to understand how one   can get overwhelmed if not at least frightened, to even dive in and discover. Carnelian, Maroon, Rosewood, Scarlet, Burnt Sienna, and the list goes on and on and on. With so many to choose from, how can we decide our perfect shade of red?

To help unravel this colorful palate of shades, we’re meeting up for some RED girl time with one of LA and Orange County’s favorite make-up artists, Jasmine Alise.

What shade(s) will she suggest? Only time will tell…

“Do you dare to be RED?”
